STAFF HARD AT WORK ON 2022 YEARBOOK EDITION

Currently, the Avon Yearbook Staff is hard at work creating the 2022 edition of the AHS yearbook. The book is one of the only records available each school year. These 80 pages contain memories of sports, fine arts, academics, student life, class rosters, and many other surprises.

FIRST GRADERS ATTEND Q & U WEDDING

On Friday, January 21, Mrs. Benita Kuhlman’s first grade class had a Q and U wedding. Mrs. Kuhlman uses this wedding as a way to help her students remember that in phonics you cannot have the letter Q without the letter U.

ONE-ACT PLAY CAST ADVANCES TO STATE

This year the Avon Drama Club performed “The Empty Chair,” a one-act drama, by Tim Kelly. It is about a group of teenagers recovering from substance abuse. Robert died of overdose and the others are left wondering! Each teen speaks about his/her memories with him through a series of monologues.

ARCHERY PRACTICE BEGINS IN AVON

Avon Archery Team, along with their Coaches Troy Soukup and Chuck Zacharias, have begun practice for the season. The 15 archers from grades six through twelve practice every Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS BEGIN BB SEASON

PROM BENEFITS FROM LOCAL DONATION

Sometimes finding help is like pulling teeth. Three weeks ago, however, fortune smiled on the junior class in the form of a donation. The donation consisted of 20 pounds of hamburger and 5 pounds of already made tavern meat.

As the school year passed the midpoint, the 8th grade careers class was allowed to look at different careers. The 8th grade Career Fair was Thursday, January 20 at the Armory in Wagner.

LAVELLE TAKES ON NATIONAL ANTHEM AT BASKETBALL DOUBLE HEADER

Addy Lavelle, a 5th grade daughter of Liz Eggers and Jason Lavelle, sang the National Anthem on January 18 at the basketball double header against Viborg-Hurley. Addy had never sung the National Anthem before. Then, in one of her voice lessons, she was humming the National Anthem and Mrs.
