The Avon Pirates capped off a successful night on Thursday, February 12, completing the sweep over Tripp/Delmont/ Armour with a 62-46 victory. The win improves the Pirates’ season record to 6-11.
We are officially into the second half of this legislative session. With Monday being President’s Day, we are officially closed, so our week will only be 4 days.
We are beyond the halfway point of session now with week number 5 in the books. It was an exciting week in the appropriations committee with revenue setting taking place.
The 101st Legislative session is now over halfway finished with the completion of week five. A number of property tax bills have been discussed.

The Avon Lady Pirates competed at the GPC Conference on Saturday, February 14, where they faced Irene/Wakonda and came up short in a hard-fought contest, 42-47.
The AC/DC Thunder used a strong start and balanced scoring effort to earn a 54-27 victory over the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders on February 9 at Dakota Christian School.

Shirley Mary Ridgway of Beulah, WY, was born on February 27, 1938, in their country home in Wagner, daughter of Albert, Sr. and Pearl (Bradley).
Funeral services for Alvin Uecker, 92, of Wagner were Wednesday, February 11 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Wagner Cemetery.
Leonard Provost, 62, of Wagner, died Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Mass for Elaine Mae Cihak, 97, of Dante, was Saturday, February 7 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dante.
