FIRST GRADERS ATTEND Q & U WEDDING

By
Taylor Van Duysen

On Friday, January 21, Mrs. Benita Kuhlman’s first grade class had a Q and U wedding. Mrs. Kuhlman uses this wedding as a way to help her students remember that in phonics you cannot have the letter Q without the letter U. The first graders said, “Q and U get married so they are not lonely, and no letter can keep them apart.”

They celebrated the wedding with a ceremony and a reception. During the ceremony, all of the students carried a letter. Kyzleigh Metzger carried the Q and Charles Rush carried the U. All of the girls dressed as queens, and the boys dressed as quarterbacks.

After the ceremony, they had their reception. At the reception they had cupcakes, drank from fancy glasses, and signed the guestbook. Then the party started when they got to dance to the “Chicken Dance” and “Endless Love.”

Spencer Dykstra said that her favorite part of the wedding was dancing, and all of the class agreed that it was the best day ever.
