Avon Pirates standouts Al'Shamon Gunter and Randall Powers represented their school and community this past weekend as they competed in the South Dakota Senior All-Star Football Game in Brookings.
On Monday, June 1, the Wagner American Legion Post 11 14U team started its season with two games at the Hennies complex against Tyndall.In the first game Wagner fell by a score of 14-3.
On Wednesday, June 3, the Post 11 14U boys were back at it at Hennies Park, this time taking on the 79ers of Scotland-Menno-Freeman-Canistota.In the first game Wagner trailed 4-1 heading into the final inning but used two singles and five walks to plate four runs and secure a 5-4 victory.

The Avon Lady Pirates took the win in the SoDak over the Scotland/Menno Trappers to advace to State Tournament in Aberdeen. Action begins for the girls on Thursday, June 4 as they will face off against Hanson at noon.

The Lady Pirates used a big inning to help run rule Ethan -Parkston in five innings. The Pirates scored two in the top of the second on three consecutive singles by Rilyn Thury, Brielle Voigt, and Pria Sesler. Parkston responded with one in the bottom of the second.
The Wagner Track and Field team made its annual trek to Sioux Falls May 28-30 to participate in the State Meet. We took seven athletes with us to participate in six different events.
