LADY RAIDERS GAIN VALUABLE EXPERIENCE ON STATE MAT

The Wagner Lady Raiders took to the big stage at the SDHSAA Girls State Wrestling Championships, competing against top talent from across the state. At 115 pounds, Izzy Myer represented Wagner. She faced Jasmine Maas of Aberdeen Central in the opening round and was defeated by fall.

RED RAIDERS DOMINATE TITANS IN FINAL REGION GAME

Last Thursday night, the Wagner Lady Raiders welcomed the Mt. Vernon Plankinton Titans to the home court for the final round of Region 5A play. The Titans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Wagner quickly answered with a 14-2 run to close out the first quarter, taking control at 14-2.

RED RAIDERS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON IN BERESFORD

The Wagner Red Raiders junior varsity and varsity boys basketball teams wrapped up their regular seasons Monday night on the road against Beresford. The Wagner JV team battled hard but came up short in a 49-39 loss to the Watchdogs.

UNDEFEATED SEASON ENDS WITH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR KNEBEL

Senior Gannon Knebel’s persistence paid off in a big way Saturday, February 28, in Sioux Falls. Competing in the 215-pound weight class, the Wagner Raider capped an undefeated season by winning the state championship after finishing as runner-up the past two years.

Bon Homme/Avon wrestlers competed in the SDHSAA Region 3B at Winner on Saturday. Results from the tourney are: 106 Asher Hellmann (33-11) placed 5th and scored 10.

LADY PIRATES FALL ON ROAD TO GAYVILLE/VOLIN

The Avon Lady Pirates traveled to Gayville Tuesday, February 17th to take on the Gayville/Volin Raiders, where they suffered a tough 41-52 loss. Lexi Vanderlei led the Pirates offensively, finishing with 11 points. Rilyn Thury contributed on the boards with 5 rebounds while also adding 3 assists.

AVON PIRATES EARN STRONG ROAD WIN OVER GAYVILLE/VOLIN

The Avon Pirates traveled to Gayville on Tuesday, February 17 to take on the Gayville/Volin Raiders and came away with a strong 48-24 victory. Al’Shamon Gunter led the Pirates with a dominant performance, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocks.

BALANCED ATTACK LIFTS THUNDER OVER SF LUTHERAN

The AC/DC Thunder varsity girls turned in a strong all-around performance last Saturday at the Great Plains Conference Tournament in Bonesteel, defeating SF Lutheran 44–21. The Thunder set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–5 lead in the first quarter.

LADY THUNDER ROLL PAST KIMBALL/WHITE LAKE 46-14

The AC/DC Lady Thunder put together a dominant defensive performance Thursday night, February 19, earning a 46-14 victory over KWL at Dakota Christian. AC/DC set the tone early, jumping out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter.
Coach Niewenhuis was recognized during the Thunder's last home game of the season.
