BALANCED ATTACK LIFTS THUNDER OVER SF LUTHERAN

The AC/DC Thunder varsity girls turned in a strong all-around performance last Saturday at the Great Plains Conference Tournament in Bonesteel, defeating SF Lutheran 44–21.

The Thunder set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–5 lead in the first quarter. AC/DC extended its advantage in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a comfortable 33–14 lead. The Thunder added 11 more points in the second half while holding SF Lutheran to just seven, sealing the 23-point victory.

Lily Muckey led the scoring effort with 17 points, followed by Nakaya Long with 12. Halle Olson added 11 points, while Makayla Jones chipped in 8 to round out a balanced offensive attack.

The Thunder were just as strong on the glass. Halle Olson pulled down seven rebounds, while Audrey DeHaan added five. Lily Muckey and Nakaya Long each contributed four rebounds to help AC/DC control the boards, finishing with 20 total rebounds.

Defensively, the Thunder were active and disruptive. Halle Olson recorded five steals as AC/ DC forced 10 turnovers. The Thunder also showed patience on offense, committing just 10 turnovers of their own.

AC/DC shot 48 percent from the field (21-of-44) and connected on 10-of-32 free throws (31 percent).
