RED RAIDERS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON IN BERESFORD

JV FALLS SHORT IN FINALE

The Wagner Red Raiders junior varsity and varsity boys basketball teams wrapped up their regular seasons Monday night on the road against Beresford.

The Wagner JV team battled hard but came up short in a 49-39 loss to the Watchdogs. Despite the setback, the Raiders showed determination throughout the contest.

Jakhi Tiger led Wagner with 10 points. Jackson Woods added 9 points, while Colton Zephier and Payne Petry each contributed 6. Avery Medicine Bear and AJ Kotab both finished with 3 points, and Ron Knudsen added 2.

The JV squad closed out a strong regular season with a 13-7 record.

VARSITY MAKES SECOND-HALF PUSH

In the varsity matchup, Wagner faced an early deficit, trailing 23-10 after the first quarter. The Raiders regrouped and steadily chipped away at the Watchdog lead.

Wagner cut the Beresford advantage to four points late in the third quarter, but was unable to overtake the Watchdogs and ultimately fell 63-48.

Jesse Zephier led the Raiders with 23 points and four rebounds. Ky Arpan recorded a double- double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Carlos Galindo added 7 points and five rebounds, while Michael Koupal pulled down six rebounds.

The Red Raiders finished the regular season with a 14-6 record and will open region play at home on Tuesday, March 3.
