Avon's 18U softball team traveled to Mt. Vernon for a league double-header Wednesday, June 26. Game one started well for Avon, as they put up 9 runs through 2 innings. They were able to hold off a potential Mt. Vernon rally in the bottom of the 3rd and took away a 14-2 victory.

The Southeast Elite split a double header with the Beresford Watchdogs. In the first game, the Elite struck for 5 runs in the top of the first. Emersyn Haenfler walked and stole second. Rowan Brandt followed with an infield hit. Leah Dewald added another infield hit which scored Emersyn.

The 2024 Avon swim team is coached by head coach, Becky Haenfler, and assistant coaches Macy Voigt, Landon Mudder and Jordyn Voigt. Becky has been the head coach of the team for the past five years.

On Friday, June 28, Wagner’s Post 11 Legion team hosted Vermillion Post 1. Hayden Christopherson of Vermillion proved to be too much for Wagner’s bats as he would pitch the complete game shutout, winning by a score of 7-0. Hunter Loeffler, Matt Link, and Carter Cournoyer each had one hit for Wagner.

On Tuesday, June 25, the Platte-Geddes Whitecaps American Legion team traveled to Wagner to take on its Post 11 squad. The game started well for Wagner as we jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. Hunter Loeffler led off the game with a walk.

On Saturday, June 29, Wagner’s Post 11 team was back in action as they would face the Platte-Geddes Whitecaps for the second time in less than a week. This time the outcome would be different as Wagner would come out on the good side of a 7-5 score.

On Wednesday, June 26, the Post 7319 teeners traveled to Salem to take on the Cubs. As usual, the evening would start with the 14U game.

On Tuesday, June 18, Wagner’s Post 11 American Legion baseball team played host to Chamberlain. This one was a pretty good pitcher’s duel contrasting two styles. Ted Slaba would be Wagner’s pitcher of record.

On Monday, June 24, the Post 7319 teeners traveled to Canova for a couple of games on the diamond. In the first contest, Wagner would best Canova’s Gang by a score of 3-0.
