FULL SAILS AND FIRST DOWNS

The Avon Pirates have had an outstanding start to the first half of the season. They have worked hard this season by going to practices after school and during the summer. They remain undefeated this season, with a record of 5-0. The Pirates are currently ranked second in the 9B class.

Al’Shamon James Gunter was born on December 20, 2007. His family members are his mom, Jamie, and his two brothers: the oldest, Aziah, and the youngest, Alvin. Al’s favorite subject in school is lunch because it makes his day—he loves food.

NEW ORAL INTERP COACH ON THE SHIP

This year, Avon High School welcomes Mrs. Irwin as the new Oral Interp coach. Though new to the coaching role, Mrs. Irwin is no stranger to oral interp. In fact, she first discovered her passion for Oral Interp as a high school student.

THUNDER FALL TO TRIPP-DELMONT/ ARMOUR

Andes Central/Dakota Christian hosted Tripp/Delmont/Armour on Thursday evening, where the Thunder ladies battled hard but ultimately fell in straight sets, 0-3. No coach’s report was available at the time of publication.

LADY RAIDERS PUMMEL THE WILDCATS

The Wagner Volleyball team traveled to Kimball on Thursday, September 25th to face the Kimball/White Lake Wildcats. The Lady Raiders picked up another nice win making their record 10-2 with scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-14.

PENTAGON TOURNEY

The Lady Red Raiders traveled to Sioux Falls on Saturday, September 27th to compete in the Sanford Pentagon Tournament. The Lady Raiders went 2-2 in the tournament and finished 5th in the white division. They first faced Parker/Marion and fell short with scores of 17-25, 25-19, and 18-25.

LADY RAIDERS CRUISE PAST THE CAVALIERS

Wagner hosted the Bon Homme Cavaliers on Tuesday, September 23rd. The Red Raiders came out ready to play and walked away with a clean sweep of scores with 25-19, 25-6, and 25-16. Outside hitter Hannah Holzbauer led the attack throwing down 11 kills.

With the sun shining bright, the temperature warm, the sound of runners warming up, AND lady bugs swarming (literally all over the place …in ears, on backs, hitting kids in the face!), the Wagner Raiders were ready to take on a in Homme on Monday, September 22.
