The Avon Pirates have had an outstanding start to the first half of the season. They have worked hard this season by going to practices after school and during the summer. They remain undefeated this season, with a record of 5-0. The Pirates are currently ranked second in the 9B class. Last week, we defeated the Colome Cowboys 67-0. This Friday, we will be taking on TDA/AC/DC for our homecoming game. Next week, we will play against Menno. We have three more regular games before starting the 1st round playoffs on October 23rd.
We took the time to ask some of our players questions. We first asked, “which opponent do you think will be the most challenging?” They all had the same answer: “Freeman.” We then asked them their thoughts about the season so far. Quarterback Easton Sees answered “Good, but we need to improve more.” Next, we asked them how the team has improved this season. Senior Jacob Ratzlaff answered, “People have grown to fit in their positions.” Another senior, Jamie Pelton, also added, “we’ve been coming out stronger.” Their goal for their season is to “win the state championship.”
