Mara Wright, a Wagner Community School sophomore, attended a Junior Day National Softball Showcase on August 9th -11th in College Park, MD. Mara is the daughter of Calvin Sr. and Mona Wright. Mara began playing softball when she was 10 years old and has enjoyed the game ever since.

Wagner community members were invited to attend Connie Kaufman’s Hometown Hero Reception on Wednesday, September 18th. At the recognition, Connie was presented with her certificate by Marcella Strand, the Activities Coordinator of Modern Woodmen Chapter 17406.

Wagner Community School welcomes new JAG Specialist and Senior English teacher, Amy Petrik for the 2024-2025 school year. Amy is originally from Spencer, IA. She has been teaching for the past eight years.

Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on September 19 at the Post home with 15 members present and two visitors – District 8 President, Karen Richlieu and Mary Kay Rezac. The meeting was called to order by President, Alyssa Mathis.

President Jordan Weber called the Wagner Rotarians to order on Wednesday, September 18th at Noon. Weber gave a blessing to the club members and guests who were present. There were six Seniors from WCS present again. Janessa Powers, parents Enessa Roberts and Jason Powers.

10 Years Ago - 2014 Extravagant Design by Rachel was welcomed by the Wagner Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Chelsea Barr and Kyle Andersh announced their engagement. A card shower was requested for Douglas Kaberna’s 75th birthday on September 30th.

The conclusion of the South Dakota State Fair essentially brings the conclusion of the 4-H year for most youth. The Bon Homme County Extension office would like to congratulate all the members who exhibited items at the 2024 South Dakota State Fair.

The South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame will be hosting their 14th annual induction ceremony on Sunday, September 22nd in Sioux Falls. Of the 19 inductees of the class of 2024, one of them is long-time referee, Milo Wepking.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Homecoming candidates for King and Queen were announced. Candidates were Amanda Reiff, Shayna Kohl, Randi Hento, Evianna Blaha, Samantha Pfarr, Cole Fillaus, Cody Namminga, Kole Beeson, Jesse Chambers and Logan Mudder.
