VFW CELEBRATES 125 YEARS OF SERVICE

Charles Mix County Veterans Service Officer This past Sunday, September 29, we proudly celebrated VFW Day, marking the 125th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign s (VFW).

WEPKING HONORED AT SOUTH DAKOTA SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Milo Wepking was honored this past weekend on Sunday, September 22nd at the induction banquet for the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame. Wepking was a referee for basketball and football for 30 and 35 years respectively who did his job as a referee in the fairest and most respected ways.

MEGAN GRETSCHMANN RECEIVES GOLDEN WEST SCHOLARSHIP

WALL, SD – Megan Gretschmann, a graduate of Avon High School, will receive a $1,000 Golden West scholarship for 2024. Megan Gretschmann is the daughter of Gene and Connie Gretschmann. She was involved in drama, quiz bowl, and was a statistician for both football and basketball.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Logan Mudder and Amanda Reiff were crowned AHS King and Queen at Coronation. Sammantha Schryvers won the Miss Kuchen pageant and was crowned during the Kuchen Festival. She became the first ever Miss Kuchen. Verlyn and Alice Betz celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

GRAY WOLF PLAZA

In April of 2024, Rob and Nicki Gray purchased the building at 51 S. 3rd in Lake Andes. The building was bought with the intent to allow Nicki and her daughters a place to chase their dreams and afford them each a place to start out their businesses.

Jayne M. Crisman, a 2010 Wagner Community School graduate, was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Air Force on July 31st at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
