Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on September 19 at the Post home with 15 members present and two visitors – District 8 President, Karen Richlieu and Mary Kay Rezac.

The meeting was called to order by President, Alyssa Mathis. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given and approved.

The motion was made by Barbara Kucera and seconded by Barbara Clemens to pay the bill that was submitted. Motion carried.

Membership chairman, Barbara Kucera reported that we have 25 paid members with the membership goal being 82.

Correspondences were read from District President Karen Richlieu.

Community service chairman, Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.

Thank yous were received from the following: Special Olympics and Nick Mills; Sanford Health Foundation (Children’s Miracle Network); and SD Legion Foundation for serving a meal to the riders of the 2024 American Legion Ride 605.

A motion was made by Juanita Stone and seconded by Linda Youngbluth to pay the following obligations: District dues; National Convention Assessment; Quarters; Bond; Convention Proceedings book; Veteran’s Care; Christmas Party; Christmas Gift Shop; Creative Arts; Children and Youth Donations and Scholarships; Auxiliary Emergency Fund; Juniors; Past Presidents Parley; Department President’s Project; and Poppies. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Linda Youngbluth and seconded by Shelby Mach to send funds from the lunch stand during the Cancer Rummage Sale in June to the Wagner Cancer Walk. Motion carried.

Sandy Seiner reported that dictionaries were given to the 3rd graders at the Wagner and Marty schools.

Motion was made by Juanita Stone, seconded by Shelby Mach to set up a Facebook page for the auxiliary. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Carol Tolliver, seconded by Dolores Kotab to pay the membership fee for members that are in the nursing home. Motion carried.

For 'Make a Difference Day,' the auxiliary along with the Legion will be preparing and serving the fellowship meal on October 24.

District 8 President, Karen Richlieu, gave a report on meetings she attended this last year. She was presented with a gift of a charcuterie board from the auxiliary.

The District 8 Fall meeting will be in Wagner on October 27.

As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the Prayer for Peace, and President Alyssa Mathis adjourned the meeting.
