PIRATES DOMINATE CAVALIERS ON HOME COURT

The Avon Lady Pirates hosted the Scotland/Menno Trappers on Tuesday, February 3 and turned in a strong team effort to earn the 42-33 victory. The Lady Pirates controlled the pace of the game and used solid defense and timely scoring to pull ahead and secure the win on their home court.

The Avon Lady Pirates hosted the Scotland/Menno Trappers on Tuesday, February 3 and turned in a strong team effort to earn the 42-33 victory. The Lady Pirates controlled the pace of the game and used solid defense and timely scoring to pull ahead and secure the win on their home court.

AVON BOYS COMPLETE SWEEP OF CAVALIERS

The Avon Pirates capped off Thursday night’s double-header against the Bon Homme Cavaliers in winning fashion, completing the sweep with an impressive team effort on February 5. Zander Fathke poured in 24 points and dished out an outstanding 11 assists to lead the offensive charge.

POPPE REACHES 500 WINS

When Coach Brad Poppe earned his 500th career victory as head coach of the Avon Lady Pirates, his first thoughts weren’t about numbers, they were about people. “It makes me realize how fortunate I have been to have coached so many amazing young ladies that enjoyed playing the game,” Poppe said.

TOUGH NIGHT FOR THUNDER AGAINST RED RAIDERS

The AC/DC Thunder varsity basketball teams came up short against Wagner’s Red Raiders last Thursday night, February 5, in LMVC conference action. In boys play, the Thunder struggled to find an offensive rhythm, falling 45–23 to the Red Raiders.

The Wagner girls wrestling team traveled to Yankton on Friday, February 6, to compete against a strong field of opponents. Jaylecia Powers led the way for Wagner, placing seventh in a highly competitive 155-pound weight class.
