The Wagner boys varsity basketball team capped off a perfect night Tuesday in Alexandria, defeating Hanson 75–53 to complete a three-game sweep and improve to 12–2 on the season.

KOUPAL LEADS WAGNER GIRLS TO CONVINCING WIN OVER HANSON

The Lady Raiders traveled to Alexandria last Tuesday night in girls basketball action to take on a Region 5 foe the Hanson Beavers. Wagner would jump out early to a 7-0 lead and post a 26-9 lead after the first quarter.

All seven girls placed at the Aberdeen Central Invitational on January 30: first-Britney Rueb-135; second-Harper Kracht-125, Hadlee Kracht-130, Hope Kemnitz-190; third-Tatum Palsma-100, seventh-Bailey Kemnitz-140, and eighthSydney Johnson-115.

AVON 4TH GRADE BOYS BRING HOME THE MEDALS

The Avon 4th grade boys basketball team competed in the Bon Homme tournament this weekend. They beat MVP and Parkston to put them into the championship game. They made a last second shot to beat EPJ 24-23. It was quite a thriller and such a joy to watch these boys compete! Congratulations team!

AVON BOYS FALL TO FREEMAN AT HOME

The Avon boys basketball team hosted Freeman on Thursday, January 30, but came up short in a tough loss, falling 57–77. Avon was led by Dominic Doom and Zander Fathke, who each scored 18 points. Doom added 8 rebounds, an assist and a block, while Fathke contributed 2 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal.

AVON PICKS UP WIN OVER ST. FRANCIS

The Avon boys basketball team faced St. Francis on Friday, January 31, at Dakota State and came away with a hard-fought 57–51 victory. Dominic Doom led the Pirates with 20 points, adding 7 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals.
