TEENERS FACE OFF AGAINST CORSICA IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME

On Monday, July 21, the VFW Post 7319 14U teeners played their final regular season competition as they traveled to Corsica for one 7-inning game. Jacob Kotab was the starting pitcher and allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out one.

AVON PIRATES FOOTBALL PLAYERS ATTEND WAGNER FOOTBALL CAMP

Over 80 upcoming 7th – 12th grade football players, representing Wagner, Avon, Armour, AC/DC, Corsica, Menno, Yankton, and PlatteGeddes, were at the NedvedBich Stadium field in Wagner for an individual skills camp this past Monday and Tuesday, July 14 and 15.

AREA YOUTH COMPETE IN SACRED HOOPS BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Area youth have been given the opportunity to participate in the Sacred Hoops Basketball program. Sacred Hoops is an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program open to middle and high school students to play on regional travel teams and participate in competitive tournaments.

AVON SWIM TEAM 5 YEAR LEAGUE CHAMPS

The Avon Swim Team wrapped up their season at the James River Valley League Championship Meet on July 16-17 in Platte. This year Avon had 64 swimmers (ages 4-18) compete, which is an all-time high for the team. For the 5th year in a row, the team earned first place in team points!

TEENERS SECURE TWO MORE WINS AT DOUBLEHEADER IN SALEM

On Monday, July 14, the 14U VFW Post 7319 teeners traveled to Salem for a double header and came home with two more wins under their belt as they beat the Cubs by scores of 7-4 and 13-7. In the first game Jacob Kotab took to the mound. He pitched all five innings to earn the win.

JR/SR TEAMS WIN THEIR FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAMES

On Friday, July 18, Wagner’s American Legion Post 11 Junior and Senior Legion teams played host to Tabor in the final regular season matchup for both teams. The juniors started out and, after trailing by a 5-1 score after four innings, mounted a comeback and ended up winning 8-5.
