On Monday, July 21, the VFW Post 7319 14U teeners played their final regular season competition as they traveled to Corsica for one 7-inning game. Jacob Kotab was the starting pitcher and allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out one. Colton Zephier then came on for two frames as well and allowed no runs on three hits and a walk while K-ing four. Austin DeVries was next up and he would take the loss for Wagner as he allowed three earned runs in his inning and a third of work. He gave up three hits, two walks, and struck out one. Tyler Ronfeldt finished the game. He went 2/3 of an inning giving up one run on a hit and a walk. Wagner was led at the plate by Jackson Woods and Landon Ronfeldt as they each had two hits with Woods driving in two. Colton Zephier, Ruger Loeffler, and Cooper Gene Kuhlman each had a hit as well with Loeffler scoring two runs. The game was tied at two heading into the 6th inning when Wagner gave up three runs. We did get one back in the top of the 7th and had the tying run at second base but a groundout to short ended it and we fell by the score of 5-3. These boys will play a best of three series with Elk Point-Jefferson that will begin with a doubleheader in Wagner on July 29 starting at 5:00.
