CARMINDY FERWERDA RECEIVES GOLDEN WEST SCHOLARSHIP

Carmindy Ferwerda, a 2025 graduate of Avon High School, will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Golden West. Carmindy is the daughter of Randy and Angie Ferwerda. She was involved in band, 4-H, and the National Honor Society.

WAGNER XC TEAM SHOWS UP STRONG IN HOMECOMING MEET

Wagner hosted their homecoming cross country meet in Pickstown on September 15, and the team rose to the occasion wtih a strong showing. Runners from across the area came to compete, but Wagner athletes made their presence known with multiple top finishes.

WAGNER JV AND VARSITY TEAMS COMPETE IN PARKSTON TOURNAMENT

On Saturday August 30th the Lady Red Raiders traveled to Parkston to compete. The JV team came home with the hardware and competed well. The varsity team went 2-2 and saw some great competition. Overall, the girls played hard and represented Wagner Volleyball well.

LADY RAIDERS PUT AWAY THE PIRATES IN THREE STRAIGHT SETS

The Wagner volleyball team traveled to Avon to take on the Pirates. The Raiders came out ready to play with a clean sweep with scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-22. Ravyn Medricky led the attack throwing down 8 kills. Ashlyn Koupal racked up 7 while Hannah Holzbauer and Brianna Fuchs each had 6.

RAIDERS CLEAN SWEEP THE SPIKERS

The Lady Raiders hosted the Gregory Spikers on Thursday, September 11th. Wagner walked away with a clean sweep with scores of 25-22, 25-11 and 25-20. Junior Ravyn Medricky led all attackers with 12 kills, Brianna Fuchs and Hannah Holzbauer each had 6 and Ashlyn Koupal added 4.

AVON PIRATES HAVE STRONG WEEK AT THE NET

The Avon Lady Pirates traveled to Tripp on Tuesday, September 9, where they swept the Nighthawks 3-0 to even their season record at 3-3. Rilyn Thury led the charge with 20 kills, 4 aces, and 8 digs. Brielle Voigt fueled the offense with 24 assists, while also adding 2 aces and a kill.

ACDC XC TEAM BEAT THE HEAT IN FREEMAN

ACDC Thunder XC competed in Freeman Wednesday, September 10th. The runners perservered through the high winds and heat. Aspen Niewenhuis placed 1st, Scarlett Cole placed 5th and Luke Dangel placed 8th. No coaches report available at print time.

WAGNER SHUTS DOWN PLATTE IN 3 SETS

The Lady Raiders traveled to Platte on Tuesday, September 9th to take on the Panthers. All 3 high school levels came away with wins on the night as well all three levels in the Middle School. The varsity scores were 25-16, 25-11, and 25-17.
