Aging water and sewer lines leave the city wondering what they will do when it is time to replace them. Several local vendors could be found on main street selling their home-grown sweet corn. The Avon summer reading program ended with a pizza party.
After Fire Chief, Rod Bergin, applied for a grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation, the foundation awarded the Lake Andes Volunteer Fire Department a grant for $65,114.03 in March of 2023.
The 2024 Lake Andes Public Library Incentive trip is in the books. On Thursday, August 1st at 8:30 am, a bus rented from BJ School bus left the library with 18 children and 7 chaperones headed to Yankton.
Siblings, Mike Miller and Cindy Mengenhauser, who purchased Moe’s Place held their Grand Opening Celebration at their new business, Inside Scoop.
The Charles-Mix County 4-H Achievement Days were held on July 29th, 31st and August 1st.

The Wagner Chamber of Commerce welcomed two new businesses, The Cake Lady and Katie Swatek Photography.
The St. Paul Kateri Circle took part in the annual 75th National Tekakwitha Conference held in Fargo, ND.
With the beginning of school, Moms in Prayer will be starting up again. This is a Christ centered prayer ministry made up of Moms and other interested ladies desiring to pray for the students and the school. The organization was started over 30 years ago by Fern Nichols.
President Jordan Weber gave a good ring of the Rotary Bell to bring the Wagner Rotarians to order on Wednesday, July 31st. Weber is settling into his role as President and already a month has passed in our new Rotary year.
The Lindsey Family, a gospel bluegrass group from Kentucky, will be in concert Monday evening, Aug. 5, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Scotland at 7 p.m. The program is free and open to the public but a freewill offering will be taken for the family.
Menno Pioneer Opry will be held Friday evening, Aug. 2. The program at the Menno Pioneer Heritage Ground's large red barn begins at 7 and a potluck finger food lunch will be served at 8 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
