The 2024 Lake Andes Public Library Incentive trip is in the books. On Thursday, August 1st at 8:30 am, a bus rented from BJ School bus left the library with 18 children and 7 chaperones headed to Yankton. Our first stop was the Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery, where we toured the Aquarium and then enjoyed a presentation by Sam Stukel, a Fish Hatchery employee. The tour of the trout feeding station was a favorite as we got to feed the fish.

Our second stop was PlayDay at the new Event Center in the former Yankton Mall, where the children enjoyed the inflatables at the bouncy house and had pizza for lunch. Next stop was the Huether Aquatic Center, which was the highlight of the day. On the way home we stopped for dinner at McDonalds.

Thank you to the Andes State Bank and Cahoy’s General Store for their donations that helped to make the trip possible.

How did these 18 children earn the incentive trip. They completed a majority of the summer programming and needed to read a certain number of pages from 320 to 1500 depending on their age.
