Shelby Arthur Hampton was born June 11, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Kymm and Stephen Hampton. She weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz. and was 19 and 3/4 inches long. Proud grandparents are Gail Gresset formerly of Lake Andes and the late Luan Miller and Ken Hampton of Oklahoma. Great Aunt and Uncles include Norrine Arpan, Todd Breen and Kurt Breen of Lake Andes. Great Grandparents are the late Nita and Arthur Breen of Lake Andes.

2022 SOUTH DAKOTA REPUBLICAN PARTY CONVENTION

The 2022 South Dakota Republican Party Convention was held on June 23-25, 2022 at Watertown, SD with 687 delegates attending from across the state. Thirteen delegates from Charles Mix represented the people of Charles Mix County. Ivan and Lois Van Dusseldorp attended as the county chairman and vice county chairwoman. Also from Platte, Junior and Cherry Van Dusseldorp attended as state committeeman and state committeewoman. Jeff and Jolene Stewart from Wagner represented Precinct 1. Mark Sip from Geddes represented Precinct 2. Also from Platte David Spier represented Precinct 9, Tom Travis and Trudy Qualm represented Precinct 10, John Steckly represented precinct 11, and Cole Anderson and Lee Qualm were delegates at large.

THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY, GREER POST #11 IS HONORING JOE STEDRONSKY AS JUNE VETERAN OF THE MONTH

Stedronsky is a Veteran of the Korean War, having been drafted in March of 1951. He felt that he was very lucky to have been drafted with three others from the Wagner area, Don Barta, Bob Mcquire, and Norm Woods. He attended basic training at Camp Gordon in Georgia and Camp Cooke in California. Stedronsky then received his specialty training as a cryptographer or code worker at Fort Myers in Virginia. He became a member of the Signal Core, which was a non-combat unit.

WAGNER AREA HEALTH & WELLNESS BEST DAM VIRTUAL 5K

The Wagner Area Health & Wellness Consortium recently held the 2022 Best Dam Virtual 5K during the week of June 5-11. Racers could choose their own 5K route or could use the original Ft. Randall Dam route and they could complete it at any time during that week. The participants then submitted their time online. This year a biking option was also offered.
