The Wagner Red Raiders headed to Winner May 6th for a triangular with Bon Homme and Winner. It was yet another windy, cold, and rainy afternoon. The Red Raiders fell 18-2 to the Cavaliers in the first game of the day.

Wagner’s tracksters took part in the SESD meet in Platte Tuesday, May 7. The girls would tie for 6th place in this eight team meet. Kya Kjeldgaard would be the lone champion for Wagner as she triumphed in the javelin as she flung the spear 100’ 8”.

Treyvan and Terran Talsma were among the 87 contestants competing at the South Dakota High School Cuatro Crown Rodeo that was held this past weekend in Wagner, Burke and Geddes. Terran earned 2nd in Calf Roping in Wagner's event with a time of 11.

The Lady Pirates battled Scotland/ Menno in an impromptu Softball game at Parkston on Tuesday night. The final score was Scotland/Menno 9 and Avon 3. Macy Voigt was on the Hill for the Pirates and struck out 8 in 4 innings. Jordyn Voigt had 2 hits and 1 RBI while Karli Devries had 1 hit and 2 RBI’s.

The Lady Pirates traveled early Saturday morning to take on the defending state champion Castlewood Warriors and Redfield at a triangular in Castlewood. Avon 2, Castlewood 11 In the first game, the Pirates took on the Warriors. In the first inning, the Pirates quickly fell behind 6-0.

The Wagner Red Raiders traveled to Sioux Falls to take on the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Saturday, May 4th and started off with a nice lead, but could not hold on and fell to the Chargers 18-8.

Wagner was defeated by Hanson April 29th, with a score of 16-1. Braxton Nedved was in the circle for the Red Raiders striking out one and walking four. Lydia Yost and Ravyn Medricky each collected a hit for the Red Raiders. Medricky batted in Yost to score the one run for Wagner.

On Friday and Saturday, May 3rd and 4th, Wagner took some select athletes to Sioux Falls to compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. We would have two placers at this meet. Ashlyn Koupal tied her career best as she cleared a height of 5’ 7”, which she achieved two years ago as an 8th grader.
