The Lady Pirates traveled early Saturday morning to take on the defending state champion Castlewood Warriors and Redfield at a triangular in Castlewood. Avon 2, Castlewood 11 In the first game, the Pirates took on the Warriors. In the first inning, the Pirates quickly fell behind 6-0. The Ladies struck for 2 runs in the 2nd inning when Brielle Voigt and Jordyn Voigt had back to back singles. Macy Voigt then drove them in with a two out double. However, the Pirates gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and eventually fell to the Warriors by a score of 11-2. Jordyn Voigt and Abby Gretschmann also both had doubles in the game. Macy Voigt and Kaydence Metzger split the game on the mound. Avon 3, Redfield 7 In the second game, the Pirates fell to Redfield. The Pirates scored first on a double by Jordan Voigt. Ashley Tolsma moved her to 3rd on a sacrifice fly and she scored on a ground out by Macy Voigt. The ladies manufactured a run in the second when Pria Sesler walked, stole second and then scored on two consecutive pass balls. The Pirates scored their last run in the 3rd when Jordyn Voigt walked and later scored on a ground out by Macy Voigt. At this point the game was tied 3-3. However, the Pirate’s couldn’t muster anymore runs and fell to the pheasants by a final score of 7-3. Macy Voigt started on the hill and was relieved by Kaydence Metzger
