Wagner’s tracksters took part in the SESD meet in Platte Tuesday, May 7. The girls would tie for

6th place in this eight team meet. Kya Kjeldgaard would be the lone champion for Wagner as she triumphed in the javelin as she flung the spear 100’ 8”.

8. Gregory 35 On Thursday, May 9, the team traveled to Parkston to compete in the Buck Timmins Memorial Track Meet.

The boys team had one champion on the day. Earlier in the season it was believed by this writer that Jhett Breen had broken the school record in the 300-meter hurdles as he had run a 40.45 time at the Avon meet, which surpassed the listed school record of 40.60 set by Steve Lhotak in 1986. After the fact, it came to light through a newspaper article that Dave Roberts had run a time of 40.30 that same year. So fast forward to this Parkston meet where Jhett would put to bed any doubts as to what the school record is as he would run a blazing 39.75 time to get his name atop the leader board. As of this writing, that time is the second fastest in the entire state. Congratualations Jhett!
