Cross Country Coaches Comments for Jolly Roger 2024

2024 was a great year for our cross country runners! We had one of our biggest teams in years, made up of returning and new runners. The junior high team saw a lot of success throughout the season, dominating meets and bringing home lots of medals and ribbons.

FALL SPORTS SEASONS COME TO AN END

The football season ended a little sooner than we had hoped. Our goal was to make another trip to the Dakota Dome in Vermillion. With that being said we still had a very successful season. We finished 8-2 which is a good year for anyone.

Senior Spotlight

Macy Alicia Voigt is the daughter of Gregg and Christena Voigt, and the sister of Jordyn, Brielle, Tyson, and Riggs Voigt. Macy’s hobbies consist of sports such as volleyball and softball, hiking, and reading.

SPENCER DYKSTRA

Spencer Dykstra is our other Pirate of the Week this week. She is the daughter of Drew and Alicia Dykstra. When we asked Spencer what her favorite subject was in school, she responded, “Spelling be - cause I like to learn how to spell challenging words.

BRENSON RATZLAFF

Brenson Ratzlaff is a Pirate of the Week this week. He is the son of David and Amber Ratzlaff and a brother to Grayson, Dawson, Stella, and Camdon. Brenson is involved in football, basketball, and track.

ALL-STATE CHOIR 2024

On Friday, November 1st four AHS choir members attended the South Dakota All State Choir in Sioux Falls.

MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL FALL CONCERT HELD

Avon Middle School and High School Chorus and Band presented their Fall Concert on Monday evening, November 11 under the direction of Joseph Sexe and Autumn Schultz.

LIBRARY HOLDS STORYTIME SOUTH DAKOTA EVENT

The Lake Andes Public Library held a special Storytime South Dakota Event on Thursday, November 14th. The event featured Mayor Ryan Frederick and Councilman Connor Florey as the special guest readers. The book that was featured was See the Dog: Three Stories About a Cat by author David LaRochelle.
