WHAT IS FARM MANAGEMENT EDUCATION?

As an instructor with the SD Center for Farm/Ranch Business Management program, I get asked that question frequently. It usually takes several minutes to explain my duties as they encompass many different areas.

ACTION PACKED NIGHT AT WAGNER SPEEDWAY

Due to the extreme heat and humidity on Friday evening, July 19 the races were held on Sunday night, July 22 with the evening race sponsored by Commercial State Bank. The results of the evening follow.

STORM DOWNS TREES, CAUSES DAMAGE

A thunderstorm with high winds came through the area the morning of July 17 and left its mark around the county with tree branches scattered all over streets and lawns. The one thing this storm brought that was welcomed by most was some much cooler temperatures.

FEMA MOBILE DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER EXTENDS STAY TO JULY 19 TH

With the large number of visitors each day, the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center in Charles Mix County has extended their stay and will operate until Friday, July 19. By keeping the DRC open they hope to give everyone an opportunity to come in to register or get answers to their questions.

MOBILE DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS COMING TO SOUTH DAKOTA COUNTIES

CROP REPORT DEADLINE IS JULY 15TH

The certification deadline for spring planted crops to the South Dakota FSA offices is July 15, 2019. Farmers and ranchers are encouraged to contact the FSA Office in Lake Andes, SD at 487-7632, ext. 2, for an appointment to timely report their crop acreages.

HUCK FINN DAY AT WAGNER LAKE

The annual Huck Finn Day Fishing Derby sponsored by Wagner’s VFW Post 7319 was held on Sunday, June 30 at Wagner Lake. The hot temperature and light winds made for an uncomfortable afternoon of fishing for the kids and parents that braved the weather.
