AREA STUDENTS NAMED TO BHSU SPRING 2019 DEAN’S LIST

SPEARFISH… Black Hills State University has released the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester. A total of 714 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 credit hours. Students that achieved a 4.0 GPA are recognized with an asterisk (*).

RANDALL CREEK RUNNING CAMP

Who thinks running is not fun? Just ask the forty-one area youth that spent 3 days attending a distance running camp on June 26-28 at the Randall Creek Recreation Area by the Fort Randall Dam.

FSA CROP REPORTING IS UNDERWAY

The certification deadline for spring planted crops to the South Dakota FSA offices is July 15, 2019. Farmers and ranchers are encouraged to contact the FSA Office in Lake Andes, SD at 487-7632, ext. 2, for an appointment to timely report their crop acreages.

26TH INDIAN DAY CELEBRATION HELD

Fort Randall Casino held their 26th Annual Indian Day Celebration Contest Powwow June 21-23 with a dance contest, drum singing contest, Jr. and Miss Indian Day Princess Contest at the Fort Randall Casino grounds but due to rain the event was later moved to the Wagner Armory.

1969 STATE B TEENER CHAMPS REUNITE

During the 2019 Fish Days celebration a group of teammates came together to reminise. These teammates were the 1969 State B Teener Champs, the Lake Andes Teeners. It was quite a journey for the Andes Teener Baseball team back in 1969. They made the paper with quite a few wins and some losses.

AG SUPPORT OUTREACH EVENT

Our rural communities have had an unusual year with wet conditions and flooding creating a tough farming environment. Extremely wet weather conditions, changes in road travel, difficult decisions on planting options and an uncertain Ag environment can create frustration and stress.
