SELECTIVE SERVICE REGISTRATION FOR YOUNG MEN

Virtually all male U.S. citizens, regardless of where they live, and male immigrants, whether documented or undocumented, residing in the United States, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.

HARVEST FESTIVAL RAFFLE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Dante Harvest Festival was held Sunday, August 11 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virigin Mary Parish. Winning this year's grand prize of $500 was Tanner Krcil pictured above with Brad and Pam Roth.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION HELD AT WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Students and parents filled the cafeteria area at Wagner Community School Wednesday in preparition of the new school year at Registration Day. An Open House will be held for all grade levels, district wide for parents and students on Wednesday, August 14 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

GRADE RAISE ON HIGHWAYS 81 AND 18

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is planning to construct two emergency grade-raise projects due to flooding on Highway 81 south of Arlington and on Highway 18 east of Lake Andes.

CMC DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER SET TENTATIVE CLOSING DATE

The Disaster Recovery Center located in Lake Andes, located in the County Emergency Management Office located at 390 Main Street has set a tentative closing date of Saturday, August 10. FEMA is sharing space with recovery specialists from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

CHILDREN ENJOY "READ TO THE MOON" SUMMER READING PROGRAM

“Read to the Moon” the summer reading program at the Library is happy to announce that as of July 27, 45,273 pages have been read by patrons of the Lake Andes Library. We are hoping for many more pages before the end of the campaign on August 9.

LAKE ANDES FARMER'S MARKET

Lake Andes is holding their Farmer's Market on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. through the end of August. This week the Farmer's Market will be held at the Community Garden which is south of the Andes Central Bus Barn.

DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER IN CHARLES MIX COUNTY MOVES TO NEW LOCATION

The Disaster Recovery Center located in Lake Andes has moved from the County 4-H Building to the County Emergency Management Office located at 390 Main Street. There is no scheduled close date at this time as they have reported they will stay as long as there is a need in the county.

WAGNER AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS TO JOIN CENTENNIAL RIDE

Several members of the Wagner American Legion Riders Chapter 11 will join the Centennial Ride either in Aberdeen or some where along the schedule route. The American Legion Centennial Ride through the heart of the nation passes along the American Legion Memorial Highway, U.S.
