Bruce Allen, Neil Zachariasen and Roger Houseman were selected as members of the 1970 All-Conference team of football players. The members are selected by the coaches of the South Eastern South Dakota Conference.

10 Years Ago - 2010 Andes Central Eagles participated at the State Volleyball event and secured 5th place. Scott and Pam Swanson are the proud parents of a baby girl, Madisyn Jean. Twelve Ihanktonwan youth participated in a Youth Camp at Santee, Nebraska.

As I stated in last week's column, this week I will share the particulars of the second CARES grant received by the Lake Andes Carnegie Public Library. The South Dakota Humanities Council awarded $9,600.

The end-of-season awards for the Andes Central/Dakota Christian Cross Country team were given out last Wednesday, November 18, at the Dakota Christian School. Letter winners on the team were: Isabella Brouwer, Sonya Hansum, Regan Hubers, Lexi Schoenfelder, Peter Backes and Tony Hansum.

10 Years Ago - 2010 Wagner Volleyball team falls in semis, earning third place to Sioux Falls Christian. Scott and Pam Swanson are excited to announce the birth of their daughter, Madisyn Jean. Dwight and Raja Brandt are excited to announce the arrival of their daughter, Raegan Arlene.

With the continued surge of COVID positive cases in our area and the country, the Wagner Parade of Lights committee has decided to proceed with the parade. The Parade is scheduled for Friday, December 18th at 5:30p.m. with parade participants lining up at 5 p.m.

10 Years Ago - 2010 Darryl Deurmier, football coach at Andes Central, was named Region 7 Coach of the Year by the SD High School Football Coaches Association. An 80th birthday open house was held for Shirley Hruska November 20 at the Community Center.

It will be “beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in Lake Andes on Friday, Dec. 4th. Because of the COVID precautions the activities will look a little different this year.
