HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES HAPPENING IN LAKE ANDES
It will be “beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in Lake Andes on Friday, Dec. 4th. Because of the COVID precautions the activities will look a little different this year. The City of Lake Andes and the Community Club are sponsoring the following activities this year:
• The Annual Holiday Parade of Lights will begin at 6 pm. Line-up will take place at 5:30 at the Lake Andes Health Care Center and proceed past the city park and proceed down Main Street to Vern’s and come back to the Tree lighting at the corner of 3rd and Main. The theme this year will be My Favorite Christmas. The parade is open to entries by families, businesses, farms, organizations. Your vehicle can be a horse, bicycle, golf cart, ATV, tractor, combine, or the normal truck or car. Use your imagination! The only requirement is the entry needs to be lighted. Send or text your entries to Mary Jo Parker at 1214 School Street, or email maryjoparker572@gmail.com or 481-0011.
• Lighting of the City Christmas tree. The tree will be set up on the empty lot at 3rd Ave and Main Street. The lighting will take place as soon as the parade concludes. Please remember to social distance.
• No Drawings will take place at the tree lighting. Customer Appreciation Drawings will be held at each of the participating businesses. Drawings for Hams and Turkeys will be completed prior to the lighting and people will be notified by phone if you have won. A list of winners will also be placed in the Announcer. Businesses in Lake Andes will have tickets available for their customers starting after November 15th up until 3:00pm on Friday, Dec. 4th.
It is hoped that we can have a great showing of young and old at these activities. Practice safe practices and continue this event in years to come. See you there!
