Darryl Deurmier, football coach at Andes Central, was named Region 7 Coach of the Year by the SD High School Football Coaches Association.

An 80th birthday open house was held for Shirley Hruska November 20 at the Community Center.

The Miley Minnehan American Auxiliary donated a POW and MIA flag at the Memorial in Lake Andes.

Andes Central Music Department presented their Veteran's Day program.

Andes Central Eagles girls volleyball team are Region 6B Champions after defeated Scotland.

Colter Florey named to Class 9-A All State Football team as a wide receiver.

Tammy Soulek was appointed as a teaching assistant in the Department of Speech at Washington State University.

A health maintenance advisory council meeting was held in conjunction with South Central Community Action Program to determine feasibility and desirability of starting an HMO in the area.

Ryan Lester was born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel R. Evans.

The Eagle Roost area below Ft. Randall Dam was designated as a Registered Natural Landmark. Edward Cassidy and Mr. and Mrs.

John Cassity of Bristow, NE, were honored for leaving trees and foilage on 400 acres of their land to help protect the site.

Alfred Radtke became assistant manager of the Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge.

The heaviest November blizzard in the history of the state began Saturday morning. Forty-five mile per hour winds blew the estimated 16 inches of snow around for more than 50 hours.

It was announced that Lake Andes would be a migratory bird refuge within its shorelines from November 20 to December 31 and would be legally posted as such.

Lake Andes was to have a chick hatchery with the coming of Murrays from Sioux City and Midwest Hatchery Company of Sioux Falls.
