Avon High School seniors have just finished reading a famous novella. This novella compares modern day politics/historical events with communism in a place called Animal Farm. Animal Farm is an amazing novella written by George Orwell, published August 17, 1945, based in England during the 1940s.

Sharon Van Gerpen visited her mother, Bernice Heusinkveld at Aspen Heights Assisted Living last Tuesday in Hull, Iowa. Kevin and Sarah Meyer and Alex Sallee of Tabor were dinner guests on Sunday in the home of their parents and grandparents, Conrad and Erma Meyer.

Library news

The library is in the process of developing a reading program to take place in January and February of 2021. It is open to anyone of any age. It does not need to be books checked out of the library.

RED RAIDERS DEFEAT IRENE WAKONDA

The Wagner boys basketball team got their first win of the season Tuesday night in Irene. The boys started off slow, trailing 11-8 after the first period. Wagner outscored Irene Wakanda 20-9 in the second period to take a 28-20 lead into the half time break.

Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11

Greer unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary met December 17th at the post home with eight members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Margie Stone opened with prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.

Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting November 19 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
