Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting November 19 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the November meeting, which were approved with one correction. We will have a oratory contest.
Committee reports were given as follows:
Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of November to members, which was approved as given. Americanism: Don Kotab reported oratory contest is still on, but must be completed by January 10. Boys State is still on and juniors and seniors are eligible. The youth Trooper Program is also still on.
Had a moment of silence for Ed Zylstra and Joe Ehrisman. Adjutant Rados presented the 5-year continuous membership stars. Service officer: Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.
Vice Commander Dennis Clemens reported Wagner Parade of Lights is December 18th. He will take his pickup with the American Flag to lead the parade. Anyone who wants to help be at the Legion at 4 p.m.
Jerry Seiner reported he will be leaving and a person out of Pierre will come down if you need help. You should apply for mileage when you are at the VA in Sioux Falls.
Legion Riders received a Plaque for their 100 year centennial ride.
Commander Kucera reported mid winter conference in Oacoma is on February 19 to 21 is still on. Spring district meeting will be March 13 for District 8.
Adjutant Rados reported Annual Sweepstakes tickets are here and members need to take and sell. Sweepstakes is February 27, 2021.
A motion to help Greg Geiman, who is running for State Sgt. of Arms.
Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer.
