The National American Soybean Association met in Washington D.C. the week of July 11th through July 14th. Avons, Tanner Hento was among the members that got to make the trip. The organization met to discuss the concerns and hopes for the next Farm Bill that will be decided on in 2023.
This week brings dangerous temps to the area, especially on Tuesday, where the peak heat index values were estimated near 100 to 106 degrees.
The rest of the week will remain above normal, with the hottest weather found in western and central South Dakota.

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) announced that the City of Wagner public water system and the system's operation specialists have been awarded a Drinking Water Certificate of Achievement Award.
The Derecho storm that swept through Avon in May, left damage and ruble in it's wake. In town, the Avon football/track buildings took a big hit. Since the storm, Terry and Nathan Schultz have been hard at work to get the buildings back in working order before the football season begins.
Lindsey (Van Gerpen) Fathke of Avon was named as the K-12 Principal, taking over Kathy Blahas position. She also starts the new school year as Head Volleyball Coach for the Lady Pirates.
Fathke was a 2005 Avon High School graduate and December 2009 USD School of Education graduate.
