AVON 10U EARN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Avon 10U team took the championship in playoff action Monday, July 1, in Platte. The team defeated Wagner 3-2 and Platte 4-3 to claim the win. Congratulations!!!!
July 4th Ribfest
The Charles-Mix County Lake Restoration Organization held their annual RibFest this past Thursday, July 4th in Lake Andes at the Charles Mix 4-H grounds. The event was moved there this year due to rain. This year’s event had 19 cooking contestants vying for the grand prize of $2500.
NEW BUSINESS COMES TO PICKSTOWN – SIPS IN BLOOM
Knotheads welcomed a new coffee/specialty drink shop at their location in Pickstown on Friday, June 20th. Sips In Bloom opened its doors at 7 a.m. that morning and has been in business ever since. Nikki Fathke is the sole owner and operator of the drink shop.

CHARLES MIX COUNTY 4-H HORSE SHOW
Charles Mix County 4-H Horse Show was held Tuesday, June 25th at the 7-N Arena in Springfield. The judge for the show was Kayla McMackin from Worthing. Charles Mix had five participants.
FRIEDENSBERG BIBLE CHURCH TO CELEBRATE 150 YEARS
The Friedensberg Bible Church was established in 1874, making this the 150th year that the church has been spreading the word of God and Jesus’ teachings. What began as a Mennonite Church and named Friedensberg Mennonite Church of Avon finally became an independent bible church in 2010.

Mary Jo Parker and Rebecca Beeson attended the 2024 South Dakota State University (SDSU) Energize Conference held on May 22nd and 23rd in Hot Springs. This was the third year that Mary Jo attended the event and Rebecca’s first year attending.
