NEW BUSINESS COMES TO PICKSTOWN – SIPS IN BLOOM

By
Alyssa Mathis

Knotheads welcomed a new coffee/specialty drink shop at their location in Pickstown on Friday, June 20th. Sips In Bloom opened its doors at 7 a.m. that morning and has been in business ever since. Nikki Fathke is the sole owner and operator of the drink shop. When asked how she came up with the name Sips In Bloom, Nikki said that she wanted something unique and creative, but also relevant and memorable.

Sips In Bloom currently offers a variety of drinks from lattes, cold brews, frappes, smoothies, lotus energy and more. Nikki is hoping to add a variety of more options in the future. This is not Nikki’s first time creating and operating this type of business. She helped launch and used to co-own Boho Press. She loved everything about owning this type of business. One of the biggest highlights for Nikki owning a coffee/specialty drink shop is getting the opportunity to see the joy that it brings to customers, while also allowing her to creatively express herself.

The location in Knotheads came to fruition in May after her husband and her ate supper at Knotheads one evening. They happened to notice that there was space not being utilized and found out that there was space available in Knotheads. Nikki spoke to one of the owners, Kristan Soukup, to see if she would be interested in offering a coffee shop as an option at Knotheads. Nikki is very grateful and thankful for how amazing and supportive Kristan has been throughout the whole process of opening Sips In Bloom. For Nikki, Kristan has gone out of her way to make her feel welcome and also offer advice and ideas; Kristan has a phenomenal entrepreneur mindset and a very uplifting spirit. Nikki is enjoying having her location in Pickstown because there is so much to enjoy. Pickstown is an absolutely beautiful area overlooking the Missouri River with great local people as well as wonderful tourists. The area offers many attractions to families and outdoor enthusiasts. The Pickstown community has been very welcoming and supportive, and Nikki could not be more appreciative.

Being the owner/operator of Sips In Bloom gives Nikki so much freedom. The freedom allows her to use her creativity to bring joy to others, It also allows for any fumbles that arise along the way for Nikki to view as positive learning experiences that continue to help her grow not only as a business woman but also in every area of her life.

The Sips In Bloom location in Knotheads is the only current location, but Nikki is open to expanding to other locations in the future. She currently has five part-time employees. It has been an amazing feeling to be able to offer employment opportunities and a fun job to the area as a small business owner.

A unique aspect of Sips In Bloom is the location. Not only can one grab a bite to eat at Knotheads, but then one can come over to Sips In Bloom for a great place to relax and sit with friends and family. For those customers on the go, Sips In Bloom does offer an online ordering option through the Clover app to meet their needs.

With Sips In Bloom coming together so quickly over the past month, Nikki has not been able to set any upcoming events or grand opening dates in place, but It is something that she hopes to do. She is brimming with ideas that she plans to add in the future and next summer.

Nikki is from Avon. She is married to her husband, Chris and they have been blessed with three wonderful children Braylon, Zander and Keira.

Sips In Bloom is open Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Follow Sips In Bloom on Facebook and Instagram for updates and drink specials.

Congratulations Nikki on your new business venture. We cannot wait to see what new and creative items you come up with for Sips In Bloom.
