The Charles-Mix County Lake Restoration Organization held their annual RibFest this past Thursday, July 4th in Lake Andes at the Charles Mix 4-H grounds. The event was moved there this year due to rain. This year’s event had 19 cooking contestants vying for the grand prize of $2500. This year’s event had musical entertainment from Uncle Roy and the Boys and also sold raffle tickets to win an E Bike. Besides the amazing ribs that were cooked, there were other food options available at the event as well including pulled pork sandwiches, macn-cheese, baked beans, chips, and drinks. Winners of the 2024 RibFest were: 1st place: Jake Herman of Tabor 2nd place: Justin Killian of Mitchell 3rd place: Jarod Myer of Avon 4th place: John Haase of Scotland 5th place: Casey Sassman of Avon There are still squares available for the E bike, so the results of the raffle will be at a later date when all the squares are sold. Overall RibFest was a great success in both terms of turn out and money raised for the lake restoration. According to Charles-Mix County Lake Restoration Organization secretary/treasurer, Merritt Stegmeir, though there are still expenses that need to be paid, he feels that this year raised more money than last year’s event. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and enjoy RibFest and those members of the Charles-Mix County Lake Restoration Organization who volunteered their time and were dedicated to making this such a successful event.
