For only a dollar, the cheer team is selling Candy Grams through December 17 to Avon students and staff. They are hoping to spread Christmas cheer and raise money for the cheer team.
As the end of the semester approaches, the junior high is planning a fun way to finish up! They are going to have a Christmas party on December 22, the last day of the semester.
It is an annual tradition for the junior high to have something special during the semester test schedule.
Aaden wakes up for school at 7:00 a.m. every morning. In school his favorite subject is science. He thinks school is okay, but it’s not his favorite. After school, he goes home and does one of his favorite hobbies, plays video games.
As the countdown to Christmas is getting shorter, the plans with families are started. Our usual Christmas tradition of getting all the siblings together and having a big supper. Then we sit down in the living room and open all of our presents on Christmas Eve.
Around the third week in January, Haleigh Tjeerdsma, Haden Cahoy, Rachael DeJong, Kiara Driesen, Haley Gillette, Christian Doom, Noah Watchorn, Caleb Wallinga, and Erica Cahoy will perform at the Region One-Act Play competition in Mitchell, SD at the Pepsi-Cola theater.
This year’s play is serious.
The Avon Oral Interpretation Team was awarded one of the Class B Team Excellence Awards at the State Oral Interpretation Festival. Reese Powers and Makayla Kopp received a “Superior” rating and gold meal for their duet “Science: No Boys Allowed.
Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Wednesday, December 30 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. The date has changed this month due to the Christmas holiday.
