DRAMA TEAM PRACTICES OF ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION

Around the third week in January, Haleigh Tjeerdsma, Haden Cahoy, Rachael DeJong, Kiara Driesen, Haley Gillette, Christian Doom, Noah Watchorn, Caleb Wallinga, and Erica Cahoy will perform at the Region One-Act Play competition in Mitchell, SD at the Pepsi-Cola theater.

This year’s play is serious. It is called Tracks, and it was written by Peter Tarsi. A group of people from different places end up on a subway platform, and they come to the realization that they are all there because they are dead. Then they try to decide, when the train comes, will it be going to heaven or...not. Consequently, they start thinking about all the horrible sins that they have committed in their pasts.

Avon, coached by Loretta Knodel, is one of eight schools in the region that will be competing. It is still yet to be determined if it is virtual. Knodel said, “We would like to have a dress rehearsal open to the public before competition.”

Behind the scenes members would include Brielle Voigt and some shop kids who are building items for the play as well.
