PIERRE -The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) announced today that the City of Avon public water system and the system's operation specialists have been awarded a Secretary's Award for Drinking Water Excellence.

The Avon Public Library hosted its final day for the Summer Reading Program on July 19th. There were about 30 children and half a dozen adults in attendance. Huge thanks goes to our guest readers High School Junior, Sarah Sweir, and 5th grader, Addy Lavelle.

LifeServe Blood Center, the SOLE supplier of blood to Avera – Wagner Community Memorial Hospital, is asking community members to give blood to help patients this summer. Travel, outdoor fun, boating, and fireworks can all lead to an increase in traumas in local emergency rooms.

Bob and Arlis Peterson of Doone, Iowa brought supper to Jim and Shirley Yonkers Friday night. On Saturday night Jim and Shirley Yonkers, Jay and Sally Weber and Nathan, Reina and Sloan Weber of Sioux Falls went our for supper.
