MANY WAYS TO HEAR THE LAW
PROVERBS 28:9 " He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination."(KJV)
ABOMINATION---hatred and disgust, anything hateful and disgusting.
There are many ways to hear the law, the law being the God's Holy Word.
Some people will outright refuse to listen to God's Word, because they are worried that God's Word will require them to change their life to go along with God's Will.
This is what God's Word should do for those who are listening to it. God's Word the Bible is given to us to expose the sin in our life, and to show God's forgiveness of confessed sin.
Knowing what God does not like and what He blesses will cause the true listener to make changes in his or her life to please God.
Those who turn away from Bible teaching will sometime want someone to pray for some situation in their life. Their own prayers fall on deaf ears of God.
Basically they are asking God to do something for them when they refuse to hear God's Word.
Then there are those who listen but the Word of God goes in one ear and out the other. They pay no attention to what God's Word is all about and they do not apply His Word to their life---Their prayers are abomination to God. They are asking God to hear their prayers and to do something for them when they pay no attention to Him when God's Word is presented to them.
Then you have those faithful believers who will not only hear, but can't wait to hear more of God's Word. For over time they have seen in their life that God's Word is true and it really fulfills once heard and applied to their life.
When people pray--praying is talking to God. God's Word ( the Bible ) is God talking to them. Their prayers are honored because God's Word is honored in their life.
Turning away from God's Word will in no way prosper a person, but listening to God's Word will bring blessings to the listener especially when the listener applies God's Word to their life.
ROMANS 10:17 " So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."(KJV)
Do you listen and apply or not?
Just Thought I'd Ask.
