KATHRYN DOOM WINS VFW VOICE OF DEMOCRACY CONTEST

Kathryn Doom was selected as the winner of the South Dakota VFW Voice of Democracy contest. Winners of the Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen and Teacher of the Year awards were announced at the Winter Legislative Conference, which was held in Ft. Pierre, on January 30.

WAGNER BLOOD DRIVE

The LifeServe Blood Center blood drive held in Wagner on Monday, January 24th had a fantastic turn-out! 46 donors registered and 50 units of life saving blood was donated. Thank you to everyone that came out to help boost the LOCAL blood supply!

OLIVIA BREEN SELECTED FOR AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY

Olivia Breen a senior at Wagner Community School was selected to serve as a legislative page in the state capitol from January 10-22. Breen was able to sit in on committee meetings and tour the top of the capitol building.

EASTER CANTATA

The Bon Homme Community choir is making preparations for this years Easter Cantata. This years Cantata is titled "Closer to the Cross" celebrating the Journey of Christ. Combining old and new music with excellent narration to make a meaningful Cantata.

Rotary News

The Wagner Rotary Club met on Wednesday, January 26th for its regular weekly meeting. Which was held in an appropriate temperature as the heater had been fixed!!! President Bryan Slaba welcomed everyone. There were no guests. Rotarian Pastor Laurie Kidd offered up thanks.

WRESTLING SEASON IN FULL SWING

With wrestling season being in full swing, the Bon Homme-Scotland-Avon wrestlers have been busy at practice and meets. On Saturday, January 8 the wrestling team went to the Dan Panschl Invitational meet in Brandon Valley. Brady Bierema and Tyler Tjeerdsma both came in third place at this meet.

Eli Watchorn was born on May 20, 2003, to Jaime Watchorn and the late Doug Watchorn. The middle child, Eli has two brothers, Trevor and Noah. Eli’s favorite subject in school is science because it's cool. His extra-curricular activities include basketball and track.

QUIZ BOWLERS EXPERIENCE HEARTBREAKING LOSS AT CHAMPIONSHIP QUIZ BOWL MEET

On Saturday, January 8, the Avon quiz bowl team traveled to the Pepsicola Theater in Mitchell. Quiz bowl consists of a three-man team competing against another school by answering questions of various subjects. Whichever team answers six questions correctly first is deemed the winner.

CAST PREPARES SERIOUS DRAMA FOR DISTRICT PERFORMANCE

On January 21, the Avon Drama department will be performing their serious one-act play, The Empty Chair by Tim Kelly. It focuses on the struggle of drug and alcohol addiction and losing a loved one to overdose.
