Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, May 27 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. This will continue to be a “drive-thru” distribution until further notice.

The following students received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, April 24th at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante.

On Sunday May 1st 2022, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Dante honored their three graduating seniors at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, followed by a luncheon in their honor. L-R Teachers Scott McNinch & Sara Hento; Jillian Beeson, Camden Roth, Sheridan Smejkal and Fr. Jim Friedrich.

Sociology class participated in an activity to better understand social stratification and the social classes. The students were divided into three classes: the upper class, the middle class, and the poverty class. Each group was given an egg and an amount of money to buy protection for their egg.

On March 29, community members attended the Avon Spring Concert featuring the 6-12th choir and band. To start the night, the junior high choir sang three songs including “Song For The Unsung Hero” by Joseph M.

Class of 2023 has gained their fifth new classmate of the 2021-2022 school year. Reilly Collier, age 17, recently moved from Brandon, SD to Dante, SD. He is now attending Avon High School as a junior.

With Prom over, many students and staff at Avon High School are becoming anxious for the end of the school year. As it turns out, there are less than thirty school days left. Soon, the AHS Class of 2022 will graduate, and the members of the Class of 2023 will gain the coveted title of “senior.
