HOSA STUDENTS ATTEND STATE CONVENTION

Avon HOSA students attended State HOSA in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Pentagon. The event took place on March 31-April 1. On the first day, the students competed in the medical skills of their choice. McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees placed top 10 in CPR and first aid.

Within the last few years, the Avon Music Department has started a Big and Little Dance for any preschool thru 5th grade students and their parent(s), guardian(s), or special loved one(s). This year's dance was March 28 from 7-9 p.m.

Sharon Van Gerpen visited her aunt, Jessie Heusinkveld, Doris Voigt and Cornelia Tjeerdsma at the Assisted Living in Springfield. Conrad and Erma Meyer and their daughter, Karen Gearhart of Ramona were guests over the weekend in the home of Marlo Anderson of Hartford.

DINNER THEATER HELD SATURDAY

On Saturday, April 9, the AHS Drama Club and Post Prom presented "How I Met Your Mummy" following dinner. Directed by Mrs. Loretta Knodel. They had 125 guests for the dinner. Post prom served lettuce salad, dinner roll, pork loin, baked potato, green beans and ice cream sundaes.

The Lessons of History

I love learning about history. When I see the granite faces on Mount Rushmore, I always want to learn more about the men enshrined there. When I walk through downtown Rapid City and see the bronze statues of our presidents, I want to learn more about each of their successes and failures.

Lake Andes Fire Department sent a couple firefighters to the State Fire Fighter 1 and 2 training and certification hosted by the Wagner Fire Department at the Wagner Fire House. They started January 3rd and finished last Saturday. It was most Tuesday and Thursday nights and most Saturdays.
