Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary Meeting Minutes

Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting April 18, at the Post Home with 12 members and three guests present. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. The opening prayer was read by Chaplain Margie Stone.

ANDERSH HONORED FOR 70 YEARS

Lavern Andersh, received his certificate of 70 years of continuous membership for the Wagner American Legion.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL HAIRSTYLIST APPRECIATION DAY

This year National Hairstylist Appreciation Day is celebrated on April 25th. Hairstylists and colorists do important work all day, every day, whether it is a fixing a bad haircut, advising on a new style or color or just making someone feel beautiful and more like themselves.

10 Years Ago – 2014 The SD National Guard helped build a play system that the Pickstown board purchased in order to update the Tom Brokaw Park in Pickstown. Vern Sip turned 80 and had a celebration at the American Legion Hall.

EMMA YOST’S FRESHMAN YEAR AT DWU

After graduating from Wagner Community School in 2023, Emma Yost decided to continue to play basketball at the college level for Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU). Emma concluded her senior year for the Red Raiders with a career 1,666 points, 1,271 rebounds, and a 53% field goal percentage.

THRIVENT/HABITAT TRIP TO FLORIDA

Betty Marshall of Parkston and Rev. Dan Brandt were in Marianna/Chipley, Florida for a week-long build on four houses. Suffering from Hurricane Michael, Category 5 in 2018, the damage 80 miles inland affected 80% of structures with some damage or total destruction.
