Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting April 18, at the Post Home with 12 members and three guests present.
The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. The opening prayer was read by Chaplain Margie Stone. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read, after making a correction they were approved.
The Treasurer’s report was given and approved.
Motion was made by Kathy Geiman and seconded by Juanita Stone to pay bills that were presented. Motion carried.
Memberships Chairman, Barb Kucera reported that we have 80 paid members. Goal is 85.
Correspondence was read by District 8 President Karen Richelieu.
Community Service Chairman, Margie Stone reported appropriate cars had been sent.
Discussed the soup and sandwich luncheon that was held April 11. The following were winners of the raffle items: Lisa Schoenfelder – potted fern donated by Mensch’s Wholesale Greenhouse; Juanita Stone – Patriotic wreath that was donated by Pam Bastemeyer; John Fuchs - $50 gift card donated by Ft. Randall Credit Union; Dorothy Kuipers - $50 Beef Bucks donated by Alyssa Mathis; Carol Tolliver – Spring Ceramic Bears donated by Linda Youngbluth; LaRae Rogers and Eleanor Andersh – hams donated by Patty Nedved; Jacob Kucera – snack box donated by Patty Nedved; and Vicki Koupal – pot holders/spatula/etc. donated by Barbara Wiechmann.
Twelve Easter cards were sent to Veterans and Auxiliary members in nursing homes or home bound.
Motion by Kathy Geiman and seconded by Alyssa Mathis to use additional hams for the meal on Memorial Day. Motion carried.
Dolores Kotab reported on the Auxiliary booth at the Wagner Farm, Home and Garden Show April 4.
Report was given by members attending the District 8 Spring meeting in Yankton on April 6.
Yearly reports were completed by the chairman of the different programs and will be sent to the State Department Chairmen.
The basket was won by Alyssa Mathis and donated back to the Children and Youth fund.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the Prayer for Peace and President Linda Youngbluth adjourned the meeting.
