Native American Heritage Month is celebrated every November to honor the history, culture, and contributions of American Indian and Alaska Native peoples. Officially designated by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, the month is a time to celebrate diverse traditions, acknowledge achievements, and educate the public about the challenges and injustices faced by Native Americans.

Funeral Services were held Monday, November 3 at Columbia UCC with pastors Jon Damaska and Eldon Reich officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Cemetery, Columbia. Spitzer-Miller Funeral home of Aberdeen was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the MakeA-Wish Foundation.
