Read moreEach year the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors poem and essay contests for grades 3rd through 12th. This year’s Americanism essay contest title was “What does Freedom mean to me?” Students from Wagner Community School were asked to participate. There were seven essays received from the IV Class of freshmen and sophomores. Those participating in the essay contest were Emma Kreeger, Octavian Kocer, Trasin Dilts, Ravyn Medricky, Addison Cuka, Mara Wright and Kieradyn Knudsen. Winners were 1st place – Emma Kreeger, 2nd place – Ravyn Medricky and 3rd place – Trasin Dilts. Emma’s essay will be sent on to the state level to compete. The Wagner American Legion Auxiliary would like to thank all of the participants and the Wagner Community School for their support and help in facilitating the contest.
Read moreThe SD National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) 2024 JAKES Hunt of a Lifetime Winner is 14 year old Jackie Lane of Avon. Jackie became a JAKES member through a youth turkey hunt sponsored in part by the Ft Randall Chapter of the NWTF. The state hunt drawing allows each chapter to enter 1 JAKES member for every 25 JAKES members they sign up. JAKES stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship and is open to youth 17 and under.
