WAGNER RED RAIDERS DROP GAME TO BERESFORD

Wagner loses another cold and windy battle to Beresford on April 8th with a score of 4-9. Lydia Yost held the pitching duties and pitched all 6 innings with 11 strike-outs and 4 walks. Yost led the offense with two base hits and two runs scored.

ANDES CENTRAL/DAKOTA CHRISTIAN TRACK PREVIEW

This year’s track season kicks off on their track season after weather related cancellations and postponements Tuesday, April 9th at 2 p.m. at Wagner Red Raider Invite. Their next track meet will be held Saturday, April 11th when they travel to Menno for the Menno Relays.

WAGNER LADY RAIDER GOLF PREVIEW

Wagner girls’ golf team kicks off their season on Friday, April 19th with Gregory at the Gregory Golf Course starting at 10 a.m. This year’s team is coached by Riley Kirwan. Riley has been coaching golf at Wagner for the past 11 years with a combined 19 years total in coaching.

KOUPAL NAMED SESD ALL-CONFERENCE MVP

Ashlyn Koupal was recently named the South Eastern South Dakota (SESD) All-Conference Most Valuable Player. Koupal is a 6’3” sophomore that plays the guard/forward position for the Red Raiders.

WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL TRACK PREVIEW

This year’s track season has started out quite rocky with all the snow and rain that the area has received in the last few weeks. The Red Raiders will kick off their track season on Tuesday, April 9th as they host the Wagner Relays with field events starting at noon.

EMMA YOST’S FRESHMAN YEAR AT DWU

After graduating from Wagner Community School in 2023, Emma Yost decided to continue to play basketball at the college level for Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU). Emma concluded her senior year for the Red Raiders with a career 1,666 points, 1,271 rebounds, and a 53% field goal percentage.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON A FINAL BASKETBALL SEASON

This year’s Red Raider girls’ basketball team had three seniors Aubrey Medricky, Macy Koupal and Aniyah Bruguier-Fields. The team ended their 2023-2024 season with a 19-4 win-loss record. The Raiders season ended when they came up short in the Region game against Mount Vernon Plankinton.

WAGNER STARTS THE SEASON 1-1

The Wagner Red Raiders headed to Gayville on Saturday April 6 for a triangular with Gayville-Volin and Hanson It was a windy battle and the girls fought hard but came up short losing 4-2 in 5 innings against Gayville-Volin.

FINAL THOUGHT ON A FINAL BASKETBALL SEASON

The Andes Central/Dakota Christian girls’ and boys’ basketball seasons both came to end, unfortunately falling short of qualifying for the state tournament. The teams both fought hard in post-play. The Lady Thunder ended their season after advancing to the SoDak 16 where they played Ethan.
