This Week in
The Rotary meeting for Wednesday, February 13, 2019 was called to order by Pres. Jerry Weber.

The Wagner S.D. AARP Chapter 962 meeting January 15, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. was opened with Pres. Jane presiding and leading us all, saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
Old Business: Last months business meeting was read by Sec.
Agriculture is the foundation of South Dakota's economy and our number one industry – by a significant margin. All in all, it contributes about $25.6 billion to the economy, so when ag prospers, South Dakota prospers. Of course, when droughts hit or markets slide, everyone feels that too.
We are now across the 1/2 way mark in the 2019 legislative session. This coming Monday (2/11/19) will be the 21st legislative day out of a total of 40 legislative days this year.
This week I have had the privilege of working with several young people. Bethany Swift, Lucas, SD is serving as a Page in the legislature, and Kay Liester, Baltic, SD and Frank Even, Burke, SD, State FCCLA Officers have shadowed me for a day.
A federal court ruled on January 29, 2019 that Vietnam veterans who served on ships offshore during the war are eligible for benefits to treat illnesses linked to exposure to the chemical herbicide Agent Orange, a decision that has the potential to extend help to thousands of veterans.
More than 40,000 South Dakota children, from infants to teenagers, live in families with incomes low enough to qualify for the federal food stamp program, creating challenges for a fruitful childhood and a prosperous adult life.

The council reviewed a request from Houseman to send Medicine Horn to Pool certification school in Sioux Falls.
